Art and Cultural Manifestations as Tools of Resistance in Colonized Palestine

Lecturer: Dr. Noura Kamal

Date: June 2025 (21, 22, 28, 29,)

Time: 11:00 Am - 12:00 (Europe time)

Saturday & Sunday

This seminar explores how Palestinians living under settler colonial violence have continuously mobilized artistic and cultural practices as powerful forms of resistance. Since the 1948 Nakba, Palestinians have endured home demolitions, political imprisonment, land dispossession, and severe movement restrictions—yet cultural expression has remained central to their survival and collective struggle.

Across four sessions, we will trace artistic and cultural expressions from the pre-Nakba period to the present day, examining how they resist erasure, affirm collective identity, and sustain resilience. The seminar offers a grounded framework for understanding the role of cultural resistance in the context of ongoing colonization.
